THE CHALLENGE
THE CHALLENGE

We were given the task to improve one fo the experiences for the City of Toronto. Due to our shared familiarity with public transportation, we decided to choose the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), a public transport agency that operates subways, streetcars, buses, and paratransit services. The TTC is the main transportation for the city of Toronto and the greater Toronto area, however, there are many flaws to the system that creates a negative experience for everyday users. We decided to create an app that would combine the services of the TTC and solve any inconveniences a user will have.

RESEARCH

PART ONE: IDENTIFYING THE ISSUE

The research was split up into two parts, the first part being the primary research where we collect information from the riders to determine their current experience with the system. The secondary research will look into the history of the TTC system, and from there, we will identify the trends to determine where the TTC will progress in the future.

For the first part, we created a survey using Google Forms to identify background information on TTC users and the problems they experience. We decided on a survey, as it is quick, easy and efficient in gather user's feedback. We asked questions regarding the user's background, what their journey is like and how satisfied they were using the system. As for the second part, we created a spreadsheet containing all major turning points of the TTC dating back to 100 years and created predictions of where the TTC will grow potentially in the future.

PART TWO: USER ANALYSIS

Using the information gathered in part one, we created 4 personas that would represent the riders and users. From there we created a journey map out one of our personas to visualize their potential experience and how they will interact with the TTC.

RESULTS OF PART TWO

PART THREE: COMPETITION ANALYSIS

Competition analysis was conducted to determine what are the similarities and differences between similar apps already in the market. It was used to also identify what are the weakness and strengths of each.
